Churches and Schools
In 2005 pastor Gerrars Cesar came to NC to visit a friend who was a former missionary in Haiti. On that visit he came to a prayer meeting at our church. Through a series of events Joy and Kerry felt led to go to Haiti to see the work that pastor Cesar was doing there. On that first visit, they were introduced to a group of pastors working in 8 different churches to advance God’s kingdom. The churches are located throughout the central plateau from cities to remote mountain villages. Each school has a school established to educate the children in the village. Here is a brief summary of each of the churches.
St. Marc Church- located in the heart of the city of St. Marc, this church serves as the base for the association of churches. This church is pastored by pastor Ardenel with pastor Cesar leading an amazing prayer service each Monday night. The school has about 250 kids. The building at this church is a beautiful facility that has been a long term project with support from several different organizations. It seats over 1000 people and is packed for several services each week.
Fleurenceau- Located in a slum area of St. Marc, this church is pastored by pastor Luciens. The school and church has outgrown its facilities and we are currently building a new facility. The school has almost 200 kids and the church averages about 300 in attendance.
Montobaugh- located in the foothills outside the city this church is the home to some of the most faithful and Christian people we have ever met. It is about a 45 minute hike up the mountain but well worth it. The first time Joy and I visited this church it was right after they were starting the school. There were only 11 kids and a couple of them were naked. They were meeting in a palm branch hut with a dirt floor. Now we have over 140 kids In a beautiful tin roofed building pastored by pastor Lides.
Buas Nerf- this was the location of pastor Cesar’s first church. Located on the main highway between Montrouis and St. Marc, this church is the sight for our annual convention. The school was damaged in the quake and has just been torn down. The new building will be built on the same site. This school has about 220 kids and the faithful pastor here is pastor Wilbert.
LaFalange- it’s not easy to get there but this church located in the foothills beyond St. Marc is joyfully under the pastoring of pastor Mean. He walks two hours to church several times per week to work with his congregation and oversee the 150 pupil school. They meet in a pretty but primitive mud and stick building on a pretty vista overlooking a valley.
Chenchenua- my first visit to this church required a 5 hour pack horse ride up a desert mountain. Then we slept in pastor Remy’s little house. It was one of the most memorable trips in my life. In November of 2010 the pastor’s wife died and left 8 kids. We are working on the church building now and the school has about 60 kids.
Pierre Pyan- this church is the closest to Montrouis. It is located through market in one of the heaviest voodoo influenced parts of our area. Pastor Reneau works hard to help his congregation be liberated from the lies of that false religion. There are about 150 kids in the school there.
We also have a school that we support the teachers and will start in 2011 feeding the kids everyday. This school is in the fish village and head mastered by our friend Carrenard. There are about 120 kids in the school. This school is part of our community development program for the fishing village.
